Guide · Meet and greet
Meet and greet: questions to ask.
At the first meeting you see whether your dog and the carer get on. With these questions you go in well prepared.

Before the meeting
- Many providers offer a free meet and greet. You book it right on the profile.
- Until your first paid booking, the provider only sees your first name and postcode area. Arrangements go through messages on GetDogWalkers.
- Note down what shapes your dog’s day: habits, fears, things it really doesn’t like.
Questions about the person and the business
- How long have you worked with dogs, and how did you get into it?
- Which credentials do you have, for example liability insurance or an animal welfare permit?
- How many dogs do you look after at the same time?
- Who steps in if you are ill or unavailable?
Questions about the daily routine
- What does a walk or a day with you look like?
- When may my dog run off the lead, and when does it stay on?
- How do you handle dogs that pull, bark or are unsure?
- How do you keep me updated, and when can I reach you?
- What do you do in strong heat, cold or a thunderstorm?
Questions for emergencies
- What happens if my dog seems unwell or gets hurt?
- Which vet would you go to, and how would you reach me?
- What do you do if my dog breaks loose?
What to watch for at the meeting
- How does the person greet your dog: calmly and taking their time, or in a rush?
- Do they ask questions about your dog themselves?
- Do they answer your questions openly, including the awkward ones?
- How does your dog react to them?
