Accessibility statement for getdogwalkers.com · Last updated: October 2026
We want everyone to be able to use our website comfortably, whether with a mouse, keyboard, screen reader, magnification or on a phone. This statement describes where we stand. It follows the German Accessibility Strengthening Act (BFSG), the European standard EN 301 549 and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA.
Compliance status
Based on our own review, the website is largely compliant with WCAG 2.1 AA. The points listed below are not yet fully met. No independent audit has taken place so far.
What we have implemented
- Every page declares its language correctly and has a clear heading structure with exactly one main heading.
- A “Skip to content” link appears on the first Tab press. All menus, toggles, FAQ lists and forms work with the keyboard and show a visible focus.
- Images that carry content have alternative text. Purely decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
- Text has a contrast ratio of at least 4.5 : 1 against its background, large headings at least 3 : 1.
- Pages adapt to any screen width and can be zoomed to 200 % without losing content or scrolling sideways.
- Videos play without sound and can be paused at any time with a button. If “Reduce motion” is on in your system, we skip animations.
- Form fields have visible labels. Error messages are announced and say what to do.
- The privacy notice doesn’t block the page and can be closed with the keyboard. The settings open as an accessible dialog.
- We don’t load third-party content outside our control.
Known limitations
- App screenshots: screenshots of the app are images. Their key content is in the alternative text and the surrounding copy, but individual labels inside the screenshots can’t be read as text.
- Videos: our videos are atmospheric footage without speech or essential information, so there are no captions or audio descriptions.
- Marquees: some headings scroll across the screen. With “Reduce motion” they stand still, and the full text is always available to screen readers.
- Languages: the help center, support and legal pages are available in German and English, not yet in French and Dutch.
We keep working on these points.
The app
The Dog Walkers iOS app supports iOS accessibility features, in particular VoiceOver, Dynamic Type up to the largest accessibility sizes, Dark Mode and Reduce Motion.
